Dragonfly Stencil CARD Class AM or PM class

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe cards are ready for the next Dreamweaver Stencil card class!  You may recognize one of the cards from a challenge that I entered with Dreamweaver Stencils for their CAS (Clean and Simple) challenge.  The White card with swirls is an extra special card for me as it was one of my cards that I entered to become a Dream Team design team member.

You will complete the above 3 cards using the Dragonfly stencil LM 913 and you will also go home with the stencil. (If you already have the stencil, please note the reduced class fee below).  You will learn how to add a lot of sparkle to your images using 2 different methods.  You will also learn a new “Molten” technique with Dreamweaver’s Metallic F/X.

Please bring your Basic Kit which is to include:

  • Spellbinders Magnetic Mat
  • Off-set Spatula
  • Repositional tape (one-sided tape)
  • Dry adhesive (suggested Sookwang tape),
  • Wet Adhesive
  • adhesive of choice,
  • fine tipped scissors
  • Border punch
  • Piercing tool and piercing (foam) mat
  • Ruler
  • If you have the following TH Distress Ink pads, it would be helpful to bring them along to make the class run faster and have less of a wait time (Evergreen Bough and Broken China)
    and
  • Sponges (for each colour), please bring them to help the class run smoother as well with less wait time.

Class dates (morning OR evening class):

Friday May 24th 10:00am – 12:30pm OR
Friday May 24th  6:30pm-9pm

Cost:

$21.00 + tax

Dreamweaver Stencils April Challenge-card 2

April’s Dreamweaver Stencils Challenge is

Mists, Drizzles, and/or Showers.

You can interpret the challenge literally and figuratively!  Let your imagination soar.  Do you think rain, umbrellas, puddles?  Maybe your imagination takes you to products like Memories mists and sprays!  I look forward to see what everyone creates.  Why don’t you join in on our April challenge….what do you have to lose?  You could even WIN a stencil from Dreamweaver Stencils!  Don’t forget to link your creation up to Mr. Linky on the Dream It Up! blog or e-mail a picture of your creation to Lynell at lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com

Well, it is my turn again to share with you another one of my creations for this month’s Dreamweaver Stencils challenge!   I used the “Mists” and “Showers” part of the challenge and incorporated them into my card this week.  I must sayOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA, this card was quite easy to do.

  •  LM 292 Baby Feet and
  • LG 738 Rain Words

Dreamweaver Pastes that I used:

Memories Mist:   Iridescent

Dreamweaver Metallic F/X:  Glacier Lake

Here’s how I created this card:

  1. Using the Memories Mist Iridescent Spray, spray a light coat onto the smooth white card stock.  Set aside to dry.  (This was the MIST part of this month’s challenge)  This iridescent spray left such a nice fine mist on the paper and is just beautiful in person.  I have included a close-up photo (bottom right) showing the shimmer of the mist.
  2. (Once the white card stock is dry) Determine placement of the Baby Feet stencil LM 292 and the “Showers of Blessings” words from the Rain Words stencil LG 738.  Once you have determined the placement of both, place the word stencil onto white CS. Using removable tape, tape off any areas that you do not want to get ink onto.  Then dip a sponge ink dauber into ink pad and sponge colour over the “Showers of Blessings” words until you have achieved the look you were after.  Remove stencil and place into water bath and clean & dry stencil.  (This was the “SHOWERS” part of this month’s challenge…of course)
  3. Place the Baby Feet stencil  onto white CS.  Tape off areas of the white paper that you do not want paste on.  Now apply Pearlescent paste over stencil.  While keeping the stencil in place, dip a small paint brush into the Metallic F/X Glacier Lake and gently tap off the powder over the Baby Feet image until you achieve the look you desire.  Now remove the stencil and place stencil  in water bath.  Continue onto the next step:
  4. While the Pearlescent paste is still wet (with the Metallic F/X on it), use a heat tool and heat up the paste.  Make sure not to over heat or it will burn the paste.  You want to see small little bubbles to appear in the paste.  For the Baby Feet, I used my finger to gently push the bubbles down a bit….once it was cooled as you do not want to burn yourself!  (There was a bit of a joke with this card with one of my friends….she told me that if  the feet were pink, it would really make the feet look like they were blistered, sore and angry!)  OK, I was going for shiny and “paint-dipped” as in a foot print.
  5. NOW clean & dry the Baby Feet stencil.
  6. So that was really it for the card.  To finished off the card, I used the same ink that was used to sponge on the “Showers of Blessings” and sponged the colour around the edges of the white card stock.  Then in between the Baby Feet stencil and the words, I added May Arts 3/8″ White Satin ribbon.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This card is going to be put to good use.  I will probably be sitting down and creating a stack of them.  Some in Pink (with NO blisters lol), some in Blue and more like the one I created here.  I am on the shower committee at my church and this will be the card I give to moms-to-be!

I encourage you to play along for a chance to WIN a Dreamweaver Stencil!

Stacey’s Card of the Month April

Another series of my own Card of the Month is starting up again this month!  April, May and June are the months for this series.

For April, there are a few extra spaces/kits.  I have just started designing the cards for the kit that will be available at the end of this month.  I thought that I would take some pictures to show you what the individual pattern papers look like as well as how much is left over in the paper pad!   The paper pad featured this month is:

Blank Canvas:  a 64 sheet 6X6 paper pad!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAJust thought that I would share an interesting note:  I design 10 cards per Card of the Month kit….and only ever use 1 sheet of each of the pattern papers in the paper pad.  Since there are 4 sheets of EACH pattern paper in this month’s paper pad, that would mean that is a potential to make 40 cards in total (you would only need to get a few extra sheets of cardstock and extra embellishments that I decide to use – or ad lib with your own embellishments! )  I’d say that is quite a bonus to my kits!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Blank Canvas paper padPlease note that I have only pictured the paper pad, card bases that I have cut from the 12X12 cardstock sheets that you will receive in the kit as well as the stamp set that is included in this month’s kit.  Full kit products will be determined after the cards are all designed.  The bottom right picture shows the extra paper that is leftover in the paper pad…TONS (approx 48 sheets extra)!

If you are interested in registering for the 3 month series or would just like to receive April’s Card of the Month kit, please contact me at 250-727-7161 or by e-mail at:  sbebc@shaw.ca

Happy Card Making!
