Essential Stamps February 14th challenge!

We have started another challenge over at our challenge blog.  Challenges are now open for a 2 week time frame to give you more time to create and upload your creations!

We did a simple sketch challenge pictured here:

Please visit the challenge blog
http://sbebcchallenges.blogspot.com/ , complete your card, upload it and link it back to your blog.

Here is my card for this sketch.

As it was Valentine’s Day I thought that it would be fitting to keep with Reds/Pinks.   The bird image is from the Bird Background stamp set.  The branch that the bird is on is from the Birdhouse Background 1 stamp set.  The bird image was coloured using Pebbles Chalks.  I used Basic Grey Kissing Booth pattern paper and Bazzill cardstock.  A variety of sizes of paper flowers, dew drops and stickles finished it off.

Happy Stamping!

Jan 17th Challenge

Hello Papercrafters!

Today is the start of a new challenge over at our Challenge Blog “Scrapbook Essentials BC Challenges”.  We are featuring The Welcome Home collection by Bo Bunny today.   This week’s challenge is a colour challenge:

The Design Team has come up with some fabulous samples for you for inspiration.  Make sure you head over to our Challenge Blog to see all of the samples.  If you have any questions regarding the products we use, please leave us a comment and we will be happy to answer your question.

Here are 2 samples for you to start with.

The first sample is by the Illustrator of the Essential Stamps Teresa Winstone.  She has created a wonderful card with so much detail.  She created a layered background using Bazzill Cardstock as well as Welcome Home pattern paper and distressed the edges of each.  She followed this by also inking them with Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Peeled Paint and Walnut Stain).  She hand cut different flourish details out of the Welcome Home pattern paper and added them in 3 more layers and adding Stickles glitter glue to the top flourishes.  Did you notice that she used the Flourish Fillers 1 stamp set to add even more detail on the background paper?  She coloured in a portion of the rounded end of the flourishes using COPIC markers.  The butterfly image from the Natural Butterflies 1 set is stunning.  To keep the butterfly light yet colourful, she left some white space.  Notice how precise her cutting was around the antennae! A little Cinnamon coloured Stickles glitter glue in the bottom right corner adds just an extra touch and helps to ground the card.

The 2nd sample is the card that I created.  I used the Bo Bunny Welcome Home collection to create the backgrounds.  On the top light brown pattern paper, I stamped the butterfly bush using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Walnut stain.   The 3 butterflies were stamped on scrap white cardstock, coloured with COPIC markers and hand cut out.  I inked the edges of the pattern papers with Walnut Stain distress ink, border punched the green cardstock with the Martha Stewart border punch.  Where the small holes are punched out, I placed dabs of Liquid Pearls White Opal colour.  The ribbon at the top of the border is 1/8″ velvet ribbon (antique gold).

COPICs:  YG93, YG95, 0 Blender, B05

Pattern Paper:  Bo Bunny Welcome Home collection (Picket Fence, Flourish and Porch Swing)

Cardstock:  Bazzill

Border Punch:  Martha Stewart

Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Walnut Stain, Peeled Paint, Broken China)

Stamp sets:  Essential Stamps  Natural Butterflies 1, Flourish Fillers, and Whimsical Bird(Word)

Other:  Stickles, May Arts 1/8″ Velvet ribbon, Liquid Pearls, Foam adhesive

Happy Creating and I hope that you will join in on the Challenge!

2012 Monthly Memories!

The start of a new year has begun.  With that, comes the start of my Monthly Memories Program.  This coming Thursday evening January 12th is the 1st Monthly Memories of 2012.   The ladies who took my program for the full year last year requested that our first layout be a “Vintage” inspired layout.  Well, I think I have done just that for them.  There are details in this layout that don’t really show up in the photo.

The Monthly Memories program this year will have a variety of layouts, not just those which reflect the month itself.  One of the next layouts will be “Birthday” themed.  This is a great program to get a variety of layouts completed.  You will be able to use these layouts to suit your needs, and not just for “Calendar themes”.

Here is January’s “Vintage Inspired” layout:

A few spaces are still available.  If you would like to join us, please let me know ASAP.  E-mail me at sbebc@shaw.ca

Happy Scrapping!

Jan 10th Card Challenge

This week over at our “Scrapbook Essentials BC Challenges” blog we are on Challenge #5-Create An Easel Card

To learn how to create an Easel Card, please CLICK HERE FOR A TUTORIAL FROM SPLITCOAST STAMPERS.

My Design Team has come up with some fabulous samples for you using “Essential Stamps” and some products from my Scrapbooking Essentials BC store.  If you have any questions regarding the products we use, please leave us a comment and we will be happy to answer your question.

Here is my card for the Challenge.

I used the Nature’s Landscapes 1 stamp set again this week.  I kept the card simple.  Using a punched out circle, I created the illusion of a moon in the sky by sponging over top of it.  The sky was sponged with Weathered Wood and Broken China distress inks and I left the bottom white.  Over top of the white I sprayed Tsukineko Goose Bumps spray.  It gave the white area a shimmer and slightly raised area (hence “Goosebumps!”).  This gave the look of snow.  The trees on the right were stamped in black ink.  The trees on the left were random tree images (or a tree top!) of tree stamps in this set.  The trees on the inside layer (bottom) which fold up to keep the easel standing were stamped with the mountain stamp on scrap paper and cut out.  I made sure to leave a “snow portion” on the bottom which gets adhered to the card.  You will also notice specks of “snow” on different portions of the trees and “ground”.  I used Liquid Applique to create this effect.

I hope that you will take time to join in on the challenge this week.  Don’t forget, that if you use an “Essential Stamp” stamp/set in your creation, your name will be entered in the monthly draw to win a set!  Anyone can enter though just for fun!  Use any products/stamps that you have on hand.  The fun is in the creating.

Jan 3rd Challenge Card

OK, better late than never.  Somehow, I didn’t get last week’s (Jan 3rd) challenge card up on this website.  (Does life get busy?!)

Last week was a sketch challenge.  I kept my card simple and kept the details to the stamped image.  I used Nature’s Landscapes 1 stamp set which is one of my favorites.  This set has a real “West Coast” feel.  I just used cardstock for this card and used brown and greens to keep with the Natural touch for my card.  The edges were inked with Antique Linen Distress Ink and I further distressed the edges with a distressing tool.

The mountain image was stamped in Black Ink and chalks were used to colour it.  The tree images on the same mountain stamp were inked with 2 different green inks and stamped on a piece of scrap paper than cut out.  They were placed over the tree images on the main image using foam dimensionals.  It’s hard to tell in the picture, but the mountain has a shimmer as the chalks used to colour in the mountain were shimmer chalks.  It gave the mountain a snow-covered feel.

Here is the Nature’s Landscapes 1 stamp set.  Any of the “Essential Stamps” sets can be ordered through the website’s on-line store.  Shipping is available.  Payment requests can be sent via Pay Pal.

If you have any questions, please feel to contact me anytime.

Challenge #3

Today was the release day of Challenge #3 over on our Challenge Blog.

http://sbebcchallenges.blogspot.com/

Challenge #3-A Colour Challenge

Challenge #3 over at “Scrapbook Essentials BC” challenge blog will be our last challenge for 2011.  We will return on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012.  We hope that everyone has an enjoyable and very Merry Christmas!  We are extending this challenge for two weeks, therefore you have until January 1st to join us with our colour challenge!
The Design Team has come up with some fabulous samples for you using products from Scrapbooking Essentials BC.  If you have any questions regarding the products we use, please leave us a comment and we will be happy to answer your question.

Here is my challenge card sample for your inspiration:

Cardstock:  Bazzill
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black (***guess there was a little theme happening!)
Essential Stamps Stamp set:  Natural Butterflies 1
Embellishments:  The Robin’s Nest Dew Drops (Fairy Dust)
Glitter:  Craft ‘n Glitz (silver, iridescent diamonds, Blush, Pink)
I kept this card simple.  The butterfly was stamped on a scrap piece of white cardstock.  Each glitter colour was applied separately.  Section, by section I applied a little glossy accents and then one of the glitter colours.  I continued doing this until I had all four colours applied.  I left it overnight, then cut out the butterfly.  After adhering all the different layers together, I adhered the butterfly but only applying adhesive to it’s body.  The wings were then bent up to create a 3D look.  A little accent of a dew drop of each side of the saluation was all it needed.  This kept the look simple without over doing it or taking away from the glittered butterfly.
Here is the stamp set:
Happy Stamping!
